BLACKTHORN WORKWAYS      A Pathway to Employment
Blackthorn Workways is located within the beautiful Blackthorn Garden in Barming and provides training & support into education and employment for people with physical or mental health difficulties, disabilities, or a range of other disadvantages.

Workways aims to provide a focussed service to those wishing to seek employment as well as those who need to identify goals and develop confidence and skills to pursue these. A willingness to work towards personal goals and objectives is important from the outset. We can provide confidence training, information, advice & guidance, personal development, and one-one key-worker support into the workplace, voluntary work or education.

Support includes vocational profiling, CV writing, interview training, job skills training, work experience, job matching, job finding and assistance with job retention. Where felt appropriate, Workways will liaise closely with those leading various workshops within Blackthorn Garden, in order to provide a supportive environment within which skills and confidence can grow, allowing individual’s goals to be realised.

The service is currently offered through the One Stop Shop partnership funded by KCC. To access the service through One Stop Shop, individuals must be under the care and support of the enhanced mental health team based at the Pagoda or Kingswood in Maidstone and be under the West Kent Primary Care Trust as a patient.
